To create a jar, you need a Chipinjar account first. You must be 18 or over to sign up.

It's best to include the name of the recipient when you Name the Jar. This helps the contributors know who the jar is for and the occasion.

For the Message to Contributors, a bit background about the occasion would be a good option.

After the End Date (by midnight EST), the jar will be closed and stop accepting contribution. We suggest you put the end date as least one day before the actual Big Day.

You may change the details you entered during creation at a later time, as long as the jar is still empty - nobody has contributed yet.

Use the Share Buttons on the jar page to share it with the circle of friends or family members of the recipient. The more people you share, the bigger the jar may get.

When you share publicly, the recipient may also see it. If you'd like this to be a surprise, share the link to your jar via direct email or message.

People you invite to contribute may also share the jar with their friends, So don't be surprised to see names you don't recognize. The more the merrier!

You will be notified via email when the jar closes after the End Date. You can now enter the email address of the recipient and a PIN for them to open the jar.

The recipient will receive a notification with a link to open the jar. You will provide the PIN to the recipient separately for security measure.

The recipient can then reply to all the contributors and share what they are getting with the money collected.
